Germany–Hungary relations

Germany and Hungary are full members of NATO and the European Union.

Germany operates an embassy in Budapest. Hungary has an embassy in Berlin, two general consulates ( in Dusseldorf and Munich) and has nine honorary consuls ( in Bremerhaven, Erfurt, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Schwerin, Dresden, Essen, Frankfurt and Stuttgart).

The largest bilateral business association is the German - Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

History

The Hungarian People's Republic and the GDR took on 19 October 1949 at diplomatic relations. With the FRG Hungary has since December 21, 1973 diplomatic relations.
