Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974

For the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 1974, the German contribution was selected in camera. In a preliminary selection, the performers Cindy & Bert, Jürgen Marcus and Anne Karin were nominated by the Hessischer Rundfunk. Composers and lyricists were asked two songs to write for the artist. In addition, two songs by composers were submitted, which were selected by the entertainment heads of broadcasters ARD for the competition.

On January 23, 1974 all twelve titles submitted were rejected in the internal selection. The reason given was that a sufficient number would have been on tracks for an informed decision available and there would have been no clear favorite. For the authors, a grace period was set to 20 February 1974 to send in another song. With a choice of 24 songs now three titles emerged:

It was the selection to Cindy & Bert, entitled The summer tune, which was presented to the public in the mission of the pictionary on 11 March 1974. The duo finished the Euro Vision Song Contest in Brighton ( the winners were ABBA), together with Norway, Switzerland and Portugal with three points on the 14th and last place.
