Germondans

Germondans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Germondans is located at 240 m, about 23 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village stretches along the edge of the Talniederung Ognon, amid the rolling countryside in the extreme northwest of the Doubs.

The area of ​​3.52 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Ognon Valley. The western and northern boundary runs along the Ognon, the large river bends here flows through a flat Talniederung, which is about one kilometer wide. Former gravel pits in the valley were filled with water. From the river, the municipality's area extends east across the broad flood plain in a gently undulating landscape that is, persisted partly under arable and meadow land in the east, especially with forest ( Bois de la Bussière ). With 282 m is reached on a hill east of the village is the highest elevation of Germondans.

Neighboring communities of Germondans are Cenans and Loulans - Verchamp in the north, Flagey- Rigney in the east, La Tour -de- Sçay, Rigney and La Barre to the south and Blarians and Beaumotte - Aubertans in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Germondans belonged to the rule Granges, which was under the Counts of Montbéliard since the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Germondans part of the community association Communauté de communes de la Bussière.

Population

With 62 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Germondans is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Throughout the 20th century, the population moved always in the range between 50 and 87 people.

Economy and infrastructure

Germondans was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Rigney after Beaumotte - Aubertans. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 11 km. Another road connection with Flagey- Rigney.
