Gernot Plassnegger

Gernot Plassnegger (born 23 March 1978 in Leoben ) is a retired Austrian football player and since the 2013/14 season football coach at Graz AC.

Career

Plassnegger began his career at homeland club FC Trofaiach. About the FC Puch Junior international joined at the age of 19 years to Austria Salzburg. There he was in his second season under coach Heribert Weber, with whom he had already worked in Puch, winning the Austrian Championship. After the expiration of his contract Plassnegger moved 1998 Vienna Austria. For the capital club he ran at two and a half years before he signed during the winter break of the 2000/01 season at the 1 FC Saarbrücken.

Through a convincing second round German second division side to Plassnegger could recommend for a change to VfL Wolfsburg. In the VW city but he could not prevail, so that he was transferred on loan back to the 2nd Bundesliga for SV Waldhof Mannheim. After 5 years at the Südstädtern in which Gernot Plassnegger in 139 games, among others, the promotion to the Bundesliga and qualify for the UEFA Europa League managed the contract by the Styrian 2013 was not extended.
