Gernot Reinstadler

Gernot Reinstadler ( * 1970, † 19 January 1991 in Interlaken, Switzerland ) was an Austrian alpine skier.

Reinstadler was the son of the former alpine skier Traudl Eder and ski instructor trainer Adi pure Stadler. He belonged to the squad of the Austrian Ski Federation, and participated in the Junior World Championships in 1988 and 1989, where his best result was a 13th place in the downhill in 1989. Also in 1989 he won three medals at the Austrian Youth Championships. He came to the first missions in the World Cup and launched in training for the Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen 1991. According to the seats 29 and 39 in the two practice sessions he participated in the January 18, participated in the qualification departure, in which the fastest 30 runners qualified for the World Cup downhill. This new mode decided by the FIS was then tested, for use and was consistently controversial among the drivers.

Reinstadler went with start number 44 in the qualifying race. Reinstadler was taken to the hospital Interlaken to primary care at the track. On January 19 at 0:43 clock he died " from the effects of life-threatening vascular injuries he had sustained in a fall. Despite the most massive blood transfusion, even after the surgery, he passed away due to severe bleeding from the area of the basin.
