The Gerold creek rises south of Götzens in 1,920 meters above sea level near the Birgitzköpfl. It is composed of five fan-shaped swelling rivers. First, it flows northward through the town. There he changes direction and passes through the north-east district Neugötzens and passes on through the mountains to Innsbruck - Wilten Wilten and flows Sieglanger into the Inn. The river has a length of 9.4 kilometers.

Water and development

The lake fed four reservoirs in the region Götzens and two in Wilten with potable water that is mainly used for the JVA Innsbruck and Sieglanger. Thus, the underflow causes a little less water; reserves in its entire run, the water quality class I.

At high tide or heavy rain, the brook turned several times as a threat, so it had to be straightened in places in the local areas.

The rearmost valley is today through the skiing area - crossing connection Axamer Lizum - developed Mutterer Alm.
