The Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle (Westphalia ) is a multi-purpose arena. Originally scheduled for the ATP lawn tennis tournament Gerry Weber Open Tennis Stadium, designed as a venue has a two-piece in 88 seconds closable roof.

Owner and builder of the stadium is the Gerry Weber Event Management & OHG. Construction of the lower ranks of spectators was in June 1992 (architecture office prank, Bielefeld), for the roof and the gallery in July 1993 ( Schlaich Berger and Partner, Stuttgart and Klaus -Peter Spannhoff engineering and planning office Melle ). Since 1993, next to the only German ATP lawn tennis tournament events in the fields of sports, music and television will take place.

The spectator capacity is dependent on the type of event and varies with installation of a raised floor. For events on the zero level ( concrete slab ) the arena the visitor capacity is approximately 12,300 people, with built elevated ground at about 10,500 people. Through the installation of two heating systems ( infrared radiators, oil / gas heating) year round use of the arena is possible. A to Handball World Cup 2007 in 2006 erbauter catering area surrounding 2,000 square meters three-quarters of the stadium and is located below the spectator gallery.

In addition to Davis Cup home games, matches of the German national handball team or the German Volleyball Cup final came here, among others, Lionel Richie, Eros Ramazzotti, Whitney Houston, a-ha, Peter Maffay and Elton John on. Further facilities include performances of operas such as Nabucco, Aida, Carmen or The Magic Flute or classical evenings with artists Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Jose Cura and Anna Netrebko to the typical events.

The stadium is operated by the Gerry Weber Event Management & OHG and is part of the Gerry Weber World, an umbrella brand under which unite all departments of the brand Gerry Weber. Each area is managed separately, but the individual sectors cooperate for the creation of a unified service offering together.
