The Gersten Pavilion is a multi-purpose hall in Los Angeles, California, United States. The hall was opened in 1981 and has a capacity of 4,156 seats. The Gersten Pavilion was one of the sports venues of the Olympic Summer Games 1984.

History

The Gersten Pavilion opened in 1981 and forms the core of the sports complex of the Loyola Marymount University. It was named after Albert Gersten, after the family Gersten was the largest single donor to the project. The hall was one of the sports venues of the Olympic Summer Games 1984. In it, the competitions were held in weightlifting. Prior to the Games, the McDonald's sponsored Gymnastic Classics took place in Gersten Pavilion, where the best gymnasts of the Soviet Union and the United States clashed.

Hank Gathers

On March 4, 1990 suffered Eric " Hank " Gathers, the 23 -year-old basketball star player of the Loyola Marymount Lions during a game circulatory collapse and died as a result of cardiomyopathy. In memory of Gathers the hall is nicknamed Hank 's House and his jersey number 44 is no longer awarded. She hangs a banner in the hall.
