Gert-Jan Prins

Gert -Jan Prins (* 1961 in IJmuiden ) is a Dutch jazz and improvisational musicians.

The musical autodidact Prins began as a percussionist, but was soon working in the field of electroacoustic music. His first band was the Gorgonzola Legs, with whom in 1988 he recorded the album Piscatorial debris. In 1992 he founded the label X-OR with saxophonist Luc Houtkamp, with whom he performed a duo and recorded.

Published in 1998, Prins his first solo album Noise Capture. Since the late 1990s, he has been a member of Mimeo (Music in Movement Electronic Orchestra ). With Bas van Koolwijk he performs as a duo Synchronator, from the collaboration with pianist Cor Fuhler was established in 2000 the album The Flirts. At Total Music Meeting 2000 he appeared with Christian Fennesz.

Next worked Prins et al with the musicians Thomas Lehn, Lee Ranaldo, Anne LaBerge, Peter van Bergen, Marcus Schmickler, Raed Yassin, Koen Nutters, Norbert Möslang, Tomas Korber, Thomas Ankersmit, Giuseppe Ielasi, Carlos Giffoni and Misha Mengelberg, composer Gilius van Bergeijk, David Dramm and Domenico Sciajno and multimedia projects with Bas van Koolwijk, Rob Flint, Xavier Querel, Andre Avelas, Manel Esparbé i Gasca, Petra Dolleman, Martha Colburn and Cyrus Frisch together.
