Gert Jan Timmerman

Gert Jan Timmerman ( born April 15, 1956) is a Dutch chess player and the 15th Correspondence Chess World Champion.

Timmerman learned chess relatively late, in 1974, when 18- year-old. He is a multiple champion of Rotterdam since 1985 FIDE Master.

In 1975, he began with correspondence chess, 1981, he first participated in a Dutch Cup, which he also won. In 1983 he became Dutch champion in this discipline repeatedly and brought it in 1986 Grandmaster title he gave the ICCF. In 2002 he won the 15th Correspondence Chess World Championship (12 of 15), which was launched in 1996.

In the ICCF ranking Timmerman is currently (July 2007 ) with a correspondence chess Elo rating of 2698 at number 7 is his Elo rating of 2274 (October 2007).
