Gertewitz
Gertewitz (also: Gaartz ) is a municipality in the administrative community Oppurg in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis in Germany.
Geography
Gertewitz located south of Pössneck and Bodelwitz in a hilly terrain of the expiring East Thuringian Slate Mountains in the transition to Orlasenke. To the west lies Wernburg and northeast Döbritz near the Döbritzer Switzerland. The verkehsmäßige access to the national road 281 is given.
History
1350 was the first mention of documentary Gertewitz.
Gertewitz was part of the Majoratsherrschaft Oppurg. The place remained even after the Congress of Vienna in 1814/16 in Prussia and came to the province of Saxony. At the time of the GDR, the village belonged to the district of Gera. Gertewitz is a member of the administrative community Oppurg since 1992.
