Gertrud Seele

Gertrud Soul ( born September 22, 1917 in Berlin, † January 12, 1945 in Berlin- Plotzensee ) was a German nurse and social worker. She was active during the time of National Socialism for beleaguered Jewish citizens, and was convinced opponent of the Nazi regime. Because of their dissident attitude, she was convicted and executed by the Nazis to death.

Life

Gertrud soul was born as the daughter of a Social Democratic working-class family. They first visited the elementary school, then for two years, upper secondary school and was subsequently called up for labor service. At age 18, she decided on a career as a nurse and was active on completion of their training as a nurse and social worker at the Robert Koch Hospital in Berlin. On September 11, 1941 their daughter Michaela was born, his father was a soldier on leave front.

After Kristallnacht in 1938 Gertrud soul realized the plight of Jewish citizens, and therefore, the aims of the Nazi racial ideology and threatened deportation of Jews began to procure secure accommodation or to hide them in their own homes. It was evacuated in 1942 together with her daughter to Remember in Lower Lusatia. There, the young woman fell on account of their anti-fascist attitude and critical statements against Adolf Hitler. In 1944 she was denounced, arrested and initially taken to the remand prison in Frankfurt / Oder. Later, the installation took place in the women's prison Barnimstraße. On 6 December 1944, she was sentenced to death by the People's Court for undermining military strength and aiding the enemy. The sentence was carried out on 12 January 1945 in Berlin- Plotzensee by guillotine. Commemoration

In her memory a hospital in Lanke was named after Gertrude soul on January 12, 1951 the former castle was then later used as Gertrude's soul - house becomes an extension of the Eberswalde hospital and until 1998, a nursing home.
