Gertrude of Baden

Gertrud von Baden ( * before 1160, † before 1225 ) was a Margrave of Baden and Princess by marriage Countess of Dabo.

She was the only daughter of Margrave Hermann IV of Baden and Bertha of Tübingen, the daughter of the Count Palatine of Tübingen, and thus a sister of Margrave Hermann V. von Baden.

Marriages and descendants

Gertrude married in 1180 to Count Albert II of Dabo († 1211 ). With him she had two sons, Henry and William, and a daughter, Gertrud († 1225 ).

Both sons were in 1202 at a tournament in Andain killed, so that the noble family of Etichonen with Albrecht II in 1211 became extinct in the male line.

Heiress of the county Dabo was thus the daughter Gertrude. This 1215 married his first wife, the Duke Theobald I of Lorraine, 1217 in second marriage to Count Theobald IV of Champagne from 1234 and King of Navarre, who had cast them out by 1223, and in 1224 his third wife Simon of Leiningen († 1234 / 36), the son of Count Frederick II of Leiningen and Saarbrücken. The county Dagsburg fell in this way ultimately to her third husband Simon, who founded the line of Leiningen- Dabo.
