Gestratz

Gestratz is a municipality in the Swabian district of Lindau ( Bodensee) and a member of the administrative community Argen.

Geography

Gestratz lies in the Allgäu region. These include smaller hamlets Altenberg, Altringenberg, Brugg, Dinnensberg, Dorenwaid, harrows, Ehrlach, Gestratz, Hochglend, Horben, Huber, Isnerberg, connoisseur, Kössentöbele, lance mountain, suffering, Lengersau, Malleichen, Metzler, Rauen, Rothentöbele, Rutzen, cackling, pigs castle, firs, valley village, sub Schmitten and Zwirkenberg.

History

Gestratz belonged before the place came to Bavaria, to Austria. It is a part of the Austrian rule Bregenz- Hoheneggstraße. Since the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 the place belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Population Development

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 1.043, 1987, 1028 and 2000 counted 1,160 residents a year.

Policy

The mayor is John Buhmann ( Free electorate ). He was the successor of Joseph Kimpfler ( Free electorate ) in 2002.

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 441,000 in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 72,000.

Coat of arms

The knitted Ratzer coat of arms shows blue one is swept, condensed golden peak, is a blue crown of thorns; forward diagonally left down three golden arrows above the other, behind a golden bear hull.

It was in 1998 according to official statistics either in the manufacturing sector to social security in trade and transport workers at the workplace. Personalities

  • Anna Maria Wehinger ( born June 2, 1853 in Gestratz; † May 4, 1922 in Dornbirn) ran from 1889 one of the first cooking and housekeeping schools in German-speaking and wrote not only historically known " Dornbirner Cookbook ".
  • Michael Kitzelmann (* 1916 in the district Horben, † June 11, 1942 in Orel, Russia), was executed by firing squad, paid his publicly expressed criticism of the Nazi regime with life.
