Geuensee is a municipality in the constituency Sursee the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located north of Sursee on the eastern edge of the Surentals. Krumbach ( 690 m above sea level. M. ) 1.8 km north-east and Hunzikon ( 729 m above sea level. M. ) 1.5 km east of the village are hamlets, which are within the boundaries of the municipality Geuensee. In Krumbach the village stream which flows through the Krumbachertobel and the village and west of it opens into the Suhre in moss stems. Population

History

The community is listed under the name Geinwison in the land register of the monastery of Einsiedeln in the years 1217/1222. It later belonged to the Official Sempach of the Habsburgs and was administered by the Lords of Aarburg. 1424 pledged Thüringstrasse of Aarburg Geuensee to the city of Lucerne, in 1429 he sold her the place.
