Gezähe

Gezähe ( OHG gizouuun of gizawa, success ' ), formerly also briefly Gezäh, is the name of the miner to all tools and implements, he needs to mountain work.

In the coal mining industry of the 19th and 20th centuries, every miner had his own Gezähe. Thus, it could not be stolen, it was either included before end of shift in the Gezähekiste or threaded onto the Gezähering and which is then sealed. For this purpose all the tools had a hole or eyelet. Gezähe that did not belong to the personal equipment and needed only occasionally, the miner was in the Gezähekammer (also: magazine) unsetting against delivery of a Gezähemarke. Most of the tools were provided with a headed or welded number.

  • Bohrgezähe: pneumatic rock drill, air leg (also: Bohrknecht ), drill rod, drill bit and accessories
  • Thick hammer or Bello ( sl ): a 20 -kg sledgehammer
  • Grubenbeil: a special type of hand ax with a hammer face at the blunt end Kaukamm: one side polished Grubenbeil
  • Flights iron: a double wedge hoe, used primarily in the former coal industry for producing the Schram and coal mining
  • Wide hoe: hoe for soft rock such as clay or lignite with broad blade
