GF World Cup
The World Cup is an annual handball tournament for women 's national teams, which will be held in Aarhus, Denmark since 2005. It can be viewed as a counterpart to the QS - Supercup and Statoil World Cup Men.
At the World Cup women's eight of the best national teams of the world are taking part: are invited every year the reigning world and European champions and the last Olympic champions. Host country Denmark and its neighbors Sweden and Norway are fixed participants.
Sponsor is since the beginning of the Danish insurance company GF Forsikring - A / S, after the cup competition is currently called GF World Cup.
Competition mode
The number of participants is eight teams. In two preliminary groups " everyone against everyone " plays. Then find placement games instead:
- Either fight the group first to place 1 and 2 and the second by 3 and 4,
- Or there are cross-over semi-finals between the groups - the First and Second -, then a small and a big finale.
