Ghemme DOCG

Ghemme is an Italian red wine with Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed status ( DOCG) from the community Ghemme, Novara Province, Piedmont. The defined vineyard is 58.26 hectares, the area under vines in 43 acres.

The wine is made from the Nebbiolo grape. In the altitude a safe maturing of the grapes is not always given. The wine may therefore be blended with a small admixture of the grape varieties Bonarda and Vespolina. The wine matures first 3-4 years in oak barrels and then left for 6-12 months in the bottle before the wine is sold to the customer. When buyers of wine or 4-8 years can then be stored. The price is about 20-23 euros per bottle.
