Scandinavian UFO wave is a name for a series of UFO sightings in 1946, which became known from Scandinavia. Supposedly witnesses saw several rocket -shaped UFOs and occasionally their impacts in Scandinavian lakes. In the press, these were as ghost rockets (English Ghost Rockets ) refers.

Events

As of February 1946, there were frequent reports of sightings of unusual spherical objects over Sweden. As of June of the year have also been sightings rocket- shaped objects have been mentioned in this connection that should have been similar to the V2.

By the end of 1946 987 of these sightings have been reported in Sweden.

Attempts to explain

Initially it was suspected that it could have been in the spherical objects to meteorites. However, this was ruled out by scientists due to the unusually high number and the equally unusual flight behavior of sighted objects.

What sort the objects were at that time is unclear. A possible explanation is that it was Soviet missiles at the objects. But then saying that the objects came from the direction of the USSR. In contrast, said that there were also reports of very low flying objects sighted.
