Ghostbusters (song)

Ghostbusters is a song by Ray Parker Jr. from 1984, it is the theme song of the movie Ghostbusters -. Ghostbusters (see also Ghostbusters (Soundtrack) ) and was among other things a number 1 hit in the U.S. and France. It spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1984 and spent three weeks at No. 2 on the UK Top 40 in the summer of 1984.

1985 Ghostbusters was nominated for Best Song Academy Award in the category, but lost to Stevie Wonder I Just Called to Say I Love You. There were a Grammy for Best Instrumental performance - Pop.

Music Video

The music video directed film director Ivan Reitman. In addition to Ray Parker Jr. and the four Ghostbusters starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson are seen in cameo roles also Chevy Chase, Danny DeVito, John Candy, Irene Cara, Melissa Gilbert and Peter Falk.

Accusation of plagiarism

Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr. due to the similarities with the song " I Want A New Drug " by Huey Lewis & the News. Agreement was reached out of court.
