Ghosts I -IV ( also Halo 26) is a collection of orchestral pieces composed by Nine Inch Nails. It was published in March 2008.

Style

The Ghosts Project differs stylistically quite distinct from other Nine Inch Nails releases. In particular, the absence of vocals and the guitar sounds only sparsely used are unique in the discography of Nine Inch Nails. The pieces are kept very synthetic and many pieces rather quiet and ambient -heavy, although there are also some rather scratched pieces.

Publication forms

The first 9 tracks ( ie Ghosts I) can be legal, free and DRM - free download. $ 5 to be paid for the full download, and there are the album as a double CD, quadruple - LP, as well as in two different special editions. The more expensive of the two special editions, Ultra - Deluxe Limited Edition called, which was limited to 2500 hand-numbered editions and cost $ 300, was sold out in two days.

Reviews

The critic reviews were mixed. In Allmusic and Pitchfork Media gave it two and a half by five and five out of ten average reviews. laut.de are, however, four out of five points has a better review and states:

" And so great disturbing " Ghosts I -IV "sounds sometimes, so much the Industrial mastermind a surprise is once again succeeded. "

At Metacritic, an average of twelve different reviews, the album receives 69%.

Awards

Ghosts was nominated for the 2009 Grammy Awards in the categories of Best Rock Instrumental Performance and Best Box Set or Limited Edition Package. It was the first Grammy nomination for applications submitted under CC license music at all.
