Ghurian District

Ghorian is a district in western Afghanistan. It is located in the province of Herat and has a common border with Iran.

Economy

In Ghorian much opium is grown. Since 2004, the saffron cultivation developed rapidly in the district. Since then, every year the area under cultivation for the spice doubled (currently in early 2011 ).
