Giacomo Battiato

Giacomo Battiato ( born October 18, 1943 in Verona ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Battiato came in his youth to Milan and found the mid 1960s working as a literary editor of the publisher Mazzotta; In 1967 he published a Antologia della poesia del letteratura e decadentismo. In the following years he turned to advertising and published in 1969 experimental short film La gabbia; In 1973, for television Expressionism, which was awarded the Grand Prize of the MIFED.

Also in 1973 he directed his first feature film; for RAI he turned Dentro la casa della vecchia signora and in the following years a number of successful films. In 1983, he was with the fantasy film The Sorcerer's Best his feature film debut. He also led opera director, worked on cultural programs of television and wrote three novels so far.

2008 Battiato won the Festival Internazionale del film di Roma with his film resolution 819
