Giacomo Leone

Giacomo Leone ( born April 10, 1971 in Francavilla Fontana ) is an Italian long- distance runner who specializes in the marathon distance.

It was founded in 1995 at the Fourteenth World Half Marathon Championships and reached in the team standings to third place. In the World Half Marathon Championships in 1996, he contributed to the Italian team in ninth victory.

1996 Leone won the New York City Marathon in 2:09:57 h and celebrated the most important of his career. At the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens, he finished seventh in the marathon. The following year he was fourth at the Tokyo International Women's Marathon, 1999, he finished the London Marathon and the sixth at the New York City Marathon in fourth place.

In 2000 he finished the Rome Marathon in second place. In the same year he was fifth at the Olympic Games in Sydney. In 2001 he scored in second place of the Lake Biwa Marathon a personal best of 2:07:52 h and finished at the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton eleventh place.

He was at the Seoul International Marathon Fourth 2002. The same position he reached in 2005 at the Florence Marathon.

Giacomo Leone is 1,71 m tall and has a competition weight of 59 kg. He starts for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro Padova.
