Giacomo Mari

Giacomo Mari ( born October 17, 1924 in Vescovato (CR ), † 16 October 1991 in Cremona ) was an Italian football player and coach.

During his playing career he played as a winger, among other things Juventus and Sampdoria.

Career

In the club

Giacomo Mari began his career in 1942 with the U.S. Cremonese, not far from his hometown Vescovato. Following the forced break, the Italian Football Championship during the Second World War, he continued his career 1945/46, continuing there.

In 1946, Mari moved to Atalanta, for the 1:3 He made his Serie A debut on 22 September 1946 at the home game against Juventus. After three years as a regular for Atalanta Mari went to the season 1949/50, to Juventus. At Juve he won under English coach Jesse Carver in his first season immediately the Scudetto. After four seasons and another league title 1951/52, Giacomo Mari moved to Sampdoria in 1953. For the season 1956/57, he finally went to Calcio Padova, where he ended his active career at the end of the season 1959/60, after a total of 426 Serie A games and 24 goals.

In the National Team

For the Italian national football team Giacomo Mari debuted under Vittorio Pozzo on August 2, 1948 at the 9-0 win against the United States. As a result, he took the Squadra Azzurra part in the World Championships in Sweden in 1950 and the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland.
