Gian Giorgio Trissino (equestrian)

Gian Giorgio Trissino ( born July 22, 1877 in Vicenza, † December 22, 1963 in Milan, also Giovanni Giorgio Trissino ) was an Italian rider.

He was at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 on his horse Oreste with a height of 1.85 meters Olympic champion in high jump. The French rider Dominique Gardères reached on his horse Canela the same height and divided so that the first rank with Gian Giorgio Trissino, who also finished fourth with his second horse Melopo in the same competition. In the long jump, he won the silver medal with Oreste with a width of 5.70 meters behind the Belgians Constant van Langhendonck, who reached on Extra Dry riding 6.10 meters.

Gian Giorgio Trissino thus became the first Olympic champion in the Italian sports history.
