Giana Romanova

Giana Alexandrovna Romanova (Russian Гиана Александровна Романова, English transcription Giana Romanova, born Chernova - Чернова - Chernova, . Born March 10, 1954 in Sjatry, Rajon Ziwilsk, Chuvashia ) is a former Soviet track and field athlete. The middle and long distance runner in 1978, European champion in 1500 -meter run.

Romanova won with the Soviet team in 1976, 1977 and 1980 gold medal at the World Cross Country Championships, in 1979 the team received silver. In the individual competition Bronze 1977 was their biggest success in 1980 they finished fourth. The European Athletics Championships 1978 in Prague, she finished second in 8:45,7 min in fifth in the 3000 -meter run. Five days later, she won the final over 1500 meters in 3:59,01 minutes just before the Romanian Natalia Mărăşescu.
