Gianluca Pozzi

Gianluca Pozzi ( born June 17, 1965 in Bari, Apulia ) is an Italian former tennis player.

Life

Pozzi 1984 tennis pro, played on Challenger and Satellite tournaments, three years later he won his first in Dublin of a total of eleven victories in a Challenger tournament. On the ATP World Tour he could ever a tournament in doubles competition (ATP Newport ) and in single ( Brisbane ATP ) gain, depending once more he stood in a final. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 2001 with position 40 in the singles and in 1991 with position 107 in doubles. His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round of Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. In doubles, he reached the second round of the 1990 Australian Open.

Pozzi was playing between 1998 and 1999 four individual lots for the Italian Davis Cup team, he came up with two defeats in two wins. In the Davis Cup Final defeat to Sweden in 1998 he was defeated by Magnus Larsson. At the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000 he went to Italy, but retired in the second round against Karim Alami from.
