Giant-Shimano

The Team Giant - Shimano is a Dutch cycling team and licensed as UCI ProTeam. The team was formed in 2005 through a merger of Japanese Shimano team with the Dutch team Bankgiroloterij. It was first called Shimano - Memory Corp and has its headquarters in Deventer. The team is a member of the Mouvement Pour un Cyclisme Credible (short MPCC; German movement for a credible cycling ). By 2010, belonged to this team, a track cycling team.

On September 28, 2011 announced the Manager Ivan Spekenbrink that the tool manufacturer Skil will finish his commitment begun in 2006 as title sponsor of the team at the end of 2011. On 30 March 2012, the team gave the oil and gas company Argos Energies as a new main sponsor known, who promised a budget for the next three years. Until then, the team was the first race of the 2012 season under the name Project 1t4i (Team Spirit, Inspiration, Integrity, Improvement, Innovation) down. With the new sponsor of the team applied for a ProTeam license for the UCI World Tour 2012 applied for, but failed as the 21st team of this established ranking the sporting qualification criterion. For the seasons 2013 to 2016, the team received a World Tour Lizenz.Im February 2013 Argos was also a member and sponsor of the MPCC and so supports the fight for clean cycling.

After Argos announced to phase out its support of the team, the team should be supported from 2014 by another main sponsor. After this also retired at the end of 2013, took over the new wheel -rapporteurs of the team, Giant, the names of sponsorship ..

The project is also a women's cycling team which for the year 2012 under the name Skil heard 1t4i as UCI Women 's Team was registered in the meantime called Skil Argos and since the 2013 season has the same name as the men's team.

Since the year 2014, the project also includes a young team that was founded under the name Development Team Giant - Shimano.
