The Giants Stadium was until 2010 the home of the NFL teams New York Giants and New York Jets and the football club New York Red Bulls (Major League Soccer). From 1977 to 1984 played there also the New York Cosmos. It was in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, along with the Meadowlands Racetrack and the Izod Center. The stadium had 80 242 spectators, making it the second largest stadium in the NFL behind the Washington Redskins and FedExField of, among others, was a venue for the Football World Cup 1994 in the USA and the opening game of the World Cup of Women 1999.

The two NFL teams attracted to the 2010 season in the right, built at New Meadowlands Stadium has to offer. The modern stadium has 82,500 seats, approximately 2,000 more than the Giants Stadium. The New York Red Bulls moved to in 2010, they play in the newly opened Red Bull Arena. The stadium was demolished in May and June 2010, the vacated area now serves as a parking lot for the newly constructed Meadowlands Stadium.

The stadium was one of the venues of the worldwide benefit concert Live Earth on July 7, 2007.

With 24 appearances is Bruce Springsteen the artist with the most concerts at Giants Stadium. On 9 October 2009, he played with the E Street Band also the last concert at Giants Stadium organizing. On this occasion, Springsteen wrote the song Wrecking ball
