Gib Guilbeau

Gib Guilbeau ( born September 26, 1937 in Sunset, Louisiana as Floyd Guilbeau ) is an American country musician, singer and songwriter.

Life

Hailing from the deep south of the USA Give Gilbeau began as a fourteen- year-old fiddle to play, had members of various school bands and worked during his military service with the U.S. Air Force in several Country - formations. In 1957 he founded with Darrell Cotton, Ernie Williams and Wayne Moore Four Young Men, published some singles and renamed The Casteways 1963. Williams resigned shortly thereafter and was replaced by Gene Parsons.

1966 Guilbeau did with Parsons together for the duo Cajun Gib & Gene. At a gig, they learned the guitarist Clarence White know, who had previously played with the Kentucky Colonels. Together they founded in 1967 the group Nashville West to the topic later Wayne Moore met.

Career

Nashville West was the house band of the same clubs and participated in numerous recordings of small Bakersfield International Records label with. After little more than a year, the group split up, after White had joined the Byrds. Guilbeau then co-founded with Eric White, brother of Clarence, and his brother Stan Pratt the group SwampWater, which existed until 1972 and was known as companion of Linda Ronstadt and Arlo Guthrie.

He then worked as a studio musician and songwriter. 1975 there was a new foundation of the Flying Burrito Brothers, then the ex-members of Sneaky Pete Kleinow and Chris Ethridge and Guilbeau and Gene Parsons included. The group lasted until the end of the 1990s. There were frequent line-up changes, the only constant member was Guilbeau. He was a singer, guitarist, and wrote much of the song material. 1980 was called to the band Burrito Brothers, later they put forward again the familiar Flying. 1980 Gibs son Ronnie joined the Burritos.

Shortly after the turn of the century, he founded a record label, Beau Town Records, on which he has published his own music and recordings of his friends. In 2003, here the album Songs I Like, on which he, accompanied by his longtime musical companions, newly recorded the best of its over one hundred compositions.
