Poisons ( Low German: Giftene, Giftenem, Gifthenem and Gifften ) is a village and district of southern Sarstedt in the district of Hildesheim, in Lower Saxony, situated on the L410 between the city core and Barnten.

History

The first mention of poisons was in 1223 as Giftene. Later ( 1232) appeared as the place Giftenem and in 1242 he was named Gifthenem.

Became famous especially the "duck -catching ", a 500 -acre water surface, which is a nature reserve in February 1990. It was created by the Prince-Bishop Jobst Edmund von Brabeck in the late 17th century.

Toxins was incorporated by the territorial reform on March 1, 1974, together with Gödringen, Heisede, Hotteln, Ruthe and Schliekum in the city Sarstedt.

Culture and sights

Since when is there a chapel in poisons, is unknown. A document from 1791 refers to the chapel already considered "old". Today's church tower of brick replaced in 1894 a tower made ​​of wood.
