Gilbert Agius

Gilbert Agius ( born February 21, 1974 in Valletta) is a Maltese footballer. He usually plays in midfield, but sometimes as a striker.

Career

Agius plays since 1990 for the Valletta FC, ​​who was in the late 1990s, one of the most successful football clubs in Malta. With the capital club, he won to 2001 five times the national championship six times and the trophy five times the Supercup. Since 2001, Valletta was Titellos before 2008, a new championship was won. Agius is the current captain of the Citizens.

Since 1993, Agius plays in the Maltese national team. Meanwhile, he has been used in over 100 international matches, scoring eight goals. It thus belongs to the players with the most stakes in Malta's national team. On 7 February 2007, he scored the goal in a sensational 1-1 draw against Malta Austria. Agius was also captain of the national team.
