Gilbert Chapron

Gilbert Chapron ( born October 7, 1933, Blois, Loir -et -Cher, France ) is a French former light heavyweight boxer.

Amateur

Chapron won the French Championship in 1955 in the light heavyweight ( 81kg - ) and 1956 at Middleweight ( - 75kg).

In 1955 Chapron at the European championships, but already retired in the quarterfinals against Erich Schöppner, Germany, from. However, in the same year he won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games.

At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 Chapron won the bronze medal in the middleweight division. After a victory over Roger Rouse, United States, he was defeated in the semifinals of Chile's Ramon Tapia on points.

Professional
