Gilberto da Silva Melo, known as Gilberto ( born April 25, 1976 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ) is a former Brazilian footballer.

Gilberto's career began in 1993 with América FC. After two years, he joined the Brazilian club Flamengo tradition Rio de Janeiro, where he was able to prevail. Gilberto won in 2007 with the Brazilian national team to the Copa America with a 3-0 win over Argentina. In May 2010, coach Dunga called him in the squad for the World Cup in South Africa.
