Gilberto Milos

Gilberto Milos Júnior ( born October 30, 1963 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian chess player. In 1988 he became chess grandmasters.

Gilberto Milos discovered his love for chess, thanks to his father, who was a great chess lover at the age of five years. In the years 1981-1983 he was the national youth champion. 1984, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1994 and 1995, he was Brazilian champion. The title of International Master (IM) he got in 1984. Four years later, in 1988, he was Grand Master (GM). His most important chess achievements are the first places in 1987, 1998, 2005 and 2007 in the South American Chess Championship in Santiago de Chile and the first place in 1988 in Buenos Aires. 1984, 1986 and 1988 was Milos Member of the Brazilian Olympic team. In the years 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002 he took part in the FIDE World Championship, but was eliminated each morning.

He has written two books Karpov vs Kamsky - The FIDE World Cup in 1996 and Checkmate (along with Davy D' Israel ), and has been involved in the development of chess learning software Chessimo.
