Gilberto Zorio

Gilberto Zorio ( born September 21, 1944 in Andorno Micca, Piedmont, Italy, lives in Turin ) is an Italian sculptor, performance and installation artist and important representatives of the Italian Arte Povera.

Life and work

Gilberto Zorio studied from 1963 to 1970 at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Turin and began in the 1960s to exhibit as part of the Italian Arte Povera movement of his work. He had his first solo exhibition in 1963 at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Piccola and 1967 at the Galeria Sperone in Turin.

Gilberto Zorios subtle forms and sculptural installations are made, in the spirit of Arte Povera often from the composition of raw ingredients. He creates installations made ​​of various materials. He uses wood, iron, terracotta, rubber, glass or objects such as athletics spears and quite often: Intense light sources.

The goal of his art is to make it through voltage mental and physical energies visible. The human energies are included in his art. Zorio trying to create installations that receive and store energy and then release it again. The defining characteristics of his work are energy, movement and growth.

In 1972, " fluorescente Pugno " took part in the Documenta 5 ( of phosphorescent wax and 2 lamps) in Kassel in the Department Individual Mythologies Gilberto Zorio with installation: represent processes and at the Documenta IX in 1992 as an artist. It was 1978, 1980, 1986, and represented at the 1997 Venice Biennale. 2010 showed the Museo d' Arte Contemporanea in Rome a solo exhibition of his work.
