Giles County (Tennessee)

Giles County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Pulaski.

Geography

The County is located in southern Tennessee, bordering Alabama and has an area of 1583 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Maury County, Marshall County, Lincoln County, Limestone County ( Alabama) and Lawrence County.

History

Giles County was formed on November 14, 1809 from parts of Maury County. It was named after William B. Giles, a U.S. Senator and Governor of Virginia.
