Giles Farnaby

Giles (also: Gilles) Farnaby (* 1562 in London, † November 25, 1640 ) was an English composer.

Farnaby's exact birth date is unknown. He was first mentioned on the occasion of his marriage in 1587 After his training -. Probably in London - he studied at Oxford. From 1602 he was in Aisthorpe, Lincolnshire, worked as a clerk and gave additional private music lessons. Towards the end of his life Farnaby moved back to London.

He wrote vocal music and keyboard works, and was one of the first who described this as " piano music ". They were included in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book.
