Gillian Flynn

Gillian Flynn (born 1971 in Kansas City ( Missouri)) is an American writer.

Life and work

Flynn studied journalism at the University of Kansas and Northwestern University. It was first television critic for Entertainment Weekly, before they decided on the writing. Even her first novel Sharp Objects ( 2006) got some minor awards such as the " CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger 2007 " and the " New Blood Dagger ". But only Dark Places (2009 ) and especially the U.S. bestseller Gone Girl ( 2012) brought the big breakthrough. "Gone Girl" was 2012 for several weeks on top of the bestseller list of The New York Times .. All three works are to be filmed; the director of Dark Places will be Gilles Paquet - Brenner. David Fincher took on the film version of Gone Girl, starring Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck will occur.

Flynn's style is considered very bleak ( serial killers, Satanism, etc.) and was praised by Stephen King. The venue is their home, the Midwest.
