Gillian Rolton

Gillian Rolton, OAM (born 3 May 1956) is a horse breeder and former Australian eventer. She is two-time Olympic gold medalist.

At the age of ten years Rolton began with riding and denied soon after their first competitions. First, it focused on the dressage. Only when she was 21 years old, the trained school teacher decided to take the show jumping training and switch to eventing. Rolton missed the qualification for the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1988, as injured both times.

At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Rolton won the gold medal in the team standings (on Peppermint Grove ). She repeated this success with the same horse four years later in Atlanta, even though they had fallen twice during the terrain Ritts and had broken his collarbone and two ribs.

Rolton was one of eight athletes who contributed during the opening ceremony of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the Olympic flag into the stadium. In the same year, she announced her departure and since then has worked mainly as a horse breeder. She is also active as a referee in various international competitions and as a trainer. In addition, she is president of the organizing committee of the Australian International Three Day Event in Adelaide.
