Gillian Russell

Gillian Russell ( Gillian Claire Russell, married Love, born September 28, 1973 at Saint Andrew Parish ) is a former Jamaican hurdler, who had specialized in the 100-meter distance. Because of their strength Sprint was also used in the 4 x 100 - meter relay.

At the Junior World Championships, she won both in 1990 in Plovdiv, as well as 1992 in Seoul, gold in the 100 m hurdles and the 4 x 100 - meter relay.

In 1991, she won at the Central American and Caribbean Championships. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993, she reached the semi-finals. In 1995, she finished sixth at the World Championships in Gothenburg.

At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 she left about 100 meters hurdles in the quarter- finals. In the 4 x 100 - meter relay was used in the flow and thus contributed to winning the bronze medal for the Jamaican team.

In 1997 she won silver over 60 meters hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Paris. The following year, silver followed at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Maracaibo in 1998 and gold at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1999, she won for the second time at the Central American and Caribbean Championships and finished fourth at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, but came at the World Championships in Seville not go beyond the quarter-finals.

Starting for the University of Miami, she was three consecutive NCAA champion in the 100m hurdles (1993-1995 ) and twice NCAA champion indoor 60m hurdles (1992, 1995).
