Gimte is a district of Hann. Munden with 2,067 inhabitants and an area of 5.01 km2.

Location

The village Gimte is right next to the river Weser (Weser 2.3 kilometers ) in the Weser Valley and is nestled between the east and Bramwald Reinhardswald in the West. The left side located at Weser 3.6 km Hilwartshausen monastery belongs to the local area.

It is accessible by car via the B3 from the directions Hann. Munden, Kassel, Göttingen or the L561 from the direction Hemeln or upper Weser Coming accessible. The Weser cycle path runs through the town.

History

Gimte was first mentioned in 970 as Gemmet and donated to the monastery Hilwartshausen. For centuries, until in the 60s of the 20th century, rafting and fishing on the river Weser was an important industry in Gimte. Other acquisition areas were the timber trade and linen weaving.

On 1 January 1973 Gimte was incorporated into the city Munden.
