Gina Stechert

Gina Stechert (born 20 November 1987 in Oberstdorf) is a German alpine skier. The member of the SC Oberstdorf specializes in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G. She lives in Fischen im Allgäu and is employed by the Federal Customs Administration pro forma as customs sergeant. Her brother Tobias is also skier.

Biography

Stechert took in December 2002 for the first time participate in FIS races. A year later the first missions followed in the European Cup, on 21 December 2004, the first race in the World Cup. But Notable successes were, first, because, in February 2005 at the Junior World Championships downhill skiing in Bardonecchia suffered a torn ACL in his right knee. They also focused on the high school, which she eventually graduated in 2007.

In the season 2005/ 06 Stechert won two victories in the European Cup runs, reaching the third place in the discipline standings. In March 2006, she became German champion in the downhill. On 2 December 2006, she won the downhill in 27th in Lake Louise her first World Cup points, the first top- 10 finish followed on 27 January 2007 at the Super G in San Sicario. At the Junior World Championships in Altenmarkt she went on the descent to fifth place. A month later, she won her second German championship, this time in the super combined.

In February 2009 Stechert participated in the World Championships in Val d'Isere in part and reached number twelve in the Super Combined and 26th place in the downhill. Two weeks later, she won the downhill in Tarvisio for the first time a World Cup race. In early March 2009 Stechert withdrew to customs World Championships in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia again tore a ligament in his right knee, which is why they could not participate in the World Cup finals in Åre, Sweden.

In the 2009/10 season, their best result was a ninth place in the Super Combined in St. Moritz on January 29, 2010. At the 2010 Winter Olympics they finished tenth in the downhill and 15th in super -G. In March 2010, she won her fourth league titles, the first in the Super -G. As in the previous Stechert drove in the 2010/11 season in a World Cup race in the top 10 ( eighth place in the departure of Lake Louise on December 8 ). At the opening race of the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch -Partenkirchen February 8, she fell and had to have surgery on his thumb, which meant the premature end of the season.

On September 24, 2011 Stechert suffered in the Super G training in Chile its third torn ACL, this time in his left knee. She had to pause six months and fell for the whole season 2011/ 12.
