Ginatilan, Cebu

Ginatilan is a Philippine municipality in the province of Cebu. It has 15,327 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ). Ginatilan is a municipality of the fifth Einkommsklasse and is located in the southwest of the island of Cebu.

Geography

It is located about 135 kilometers southwest of Cebu City and can be reached via the coastal road via Toledo City. Your neighboring municipalities are Malabuyoc in the north, in the south Samboan, Boljoon and Oslob in the east. To the west is the island of Negros is the Ginatilan by the Tanon Strait separately.

The topography of the parish is extremely mountainous, and is characterized by deep valleys and wide plateaus. The highest peak reaches 819 meters above sea level.

Attractions

The St. Gregory the Great Parish Church was built in 1829 in a baroque architectural style. One of the oldest houses in the village is the Ancestral House of the Jomuad, built already in 1700. The Ancestral House of Capitan ( Mayor ) German Ferraren served the Spanish colonial administration as an administration building. The Tower Bantayan sa Hari served in earlier times to identify incoming ships and therefore also to warn against the Moro pirates. The Old Municipal Building was built in 1917 and served until 2000 as the town hall. The Holy Trinity College was one of the first schools of the municipality and was opened in 1945. The Puerta de la Marina was the old fishing port in the Spanish period. The Millennium Park is the beach promenade of the community, in it there is a modern lighthouse. The Municipal Auditorium is the architectural highlight of the community, it was built in the style of the Sydney Opera House.

The Inambacan waterfalls are located in Barangay Calabawan. The Ginatilan Marine Sanctuary is a marine reserve, which was established to protect the coral reefs and their inhabitants.
