Gino Munaron

Virginio " Gino " Munaron ( born April 2, 1928 in Turin, † November 22, 2009 in Valenza ) is an Italian former race car driver.

Gino Munaron was over a decade, from 1955 to 1965, one of the best sports car racer. In the 1950s, he was a factory driver at Ferrari, Maserati and OSCA. He won the sports car race in Hyeres for Ferrari in 1955, was third in the race in Pescara and fourth in Bari. On a Ferrari 250 GT 1957 he was driving alone third in the 12 - hour race at Reims.

His debut in the Formula 1 World Championship was Munaron Formula 1 1960 season to an already long in the Maserati 250F Grand Prix of Argentina. With eight laps behind the winner Bruce McLaren Munaron was in the race 13th. Back in Europe he went with little success the Cooper T51 Scuderia Eugenio Castellotti in some world championship races.

By the mid 1960 's, he went on sports and touring car racing. He was together with Andrea de Adamich 1965 fifth at the 24 - hour race at Spa-Francorchamps.
