Giorgi Arveladze

Giorgi Arveladze (Georgian გიორგი არველაძე; * July 10, 1978 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian politician ( National Movement - Democrats ). From 2004 to 2005 he was Vice- President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe ( PACE). From November 2006 to January 2008, he was Minister of Economic Development of Georgia.

Life

Youth and studies

After graduating from high school in 1995 he became foreign policy staff of non-governmental Center for Political Development in Tbilisi. In 1997 and 1998 he studied sociology and political science at the University of Tel Aviv. In 1999 he moved to Tbilisi State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in International Relations. In 2000, he earned a master's degree in public administration at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs.

Ministry officials

In 2000 he was a research associate of the Justice Committee of the Georgian Parliament. In January 2001 he joined as Head of the Department of the prison reform in the Georgian Ministry of Justice Mikheil Saakashvili, later became head of the department of information and analysis. Following the resignation of Saakashvili also Arveladze left the ministry.

Right hand Saakashvili

In November 2002 he became a member of the city council (Georgian Sakrebulo ) of Tbilisi, a month later office manager Saakashvili as chief councilor. Minister

In October 2005, Saakashvili appointed him to head the Presidential Administration. On November 20, 2006, he was Georgian Minister of Economic Development. He was not taken in the Cabinet of President Saakashvili's second term of office on 31 January 2008 and announced its intention to move into the private sector.

Meetings and party memberships

Arveladze was 1996 Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of Youth Organizations of Georgia, 1997 Chairman of the Georgian student associations. In October 2001 he joined, founded by Saakashvili party United National Movement (now the National Movement - Democrats ) on.

He is married and has two children, speaks English and Russian.
