Giorgia Meloni

Giorgia Meloni ( born January 15, 1977 in Rome) is an Italian politician of the party Fratelli d' Italia and journalist. In Silvio Berlusconi's fourth cabinet she was from May 2008 to November 2011 Italian Youth and Sports Minister.

Political career

Giorgia Meloni was born in Rome's Garbatella, where she grew up also. She studied political science at the Università degli Studi Roma Tre and is a journalist by profession. Their political activity began with the founding and organization of the student protest movement Gli Antenati (English: " The ancestors " but also the Italian name of the animated series The Flintstones ) against the measures taken by the competent Minister Rosa Russo Iervolino educational reforms.

In 1996 she was at the head of Azione Studentesca, the student organization of their party National Alliance (AN), selected and represented them in the created by the Ministry of Education Forum of all fraternities. From 1998 to 2002, she sat for her party in the Provincial Council of Rome. In 2000 she moved to the leadership of the Azione Giovane on, the youth organization of the AN to the National Chairman (Presidente ), she was elected in 2004.

In the parliamentary elections of 2006, she was elected to the Contractor at the constituency Lazio 1 in the Italian Chamber of Deputies and held as the youngest MP in the 15th legislative period ( 2006-2008), the office of Vice -President of the lower house of parliament.

After her re-election at the early elections of 2008 and the landslide victory of Berlusconi's new right-wing alliance Popolo della Libertà ( PdL ), she was appointed on 8 May 2008 with 31 years as a youth and sports minister in the new government.
