Giorgio Chiellini ( born August 14, 1984 in Pisa, Italy) is an Italian football player.
Since 2004 he is under contract at Juventus. Previously, he played on the position of the left-back, but now he has established itself as a strong defender and is used to this position.

Career
In the club
Giorgio Chiellini started his footballing career at AS Livorno in the Italian Serie C1 and increased with the team in the 2003/04 season in the Serie A on. In summer 2004, Chiellini was signed by Italian giants Juventus. The old lady gave it to the league rivals Fiorentina, where he made his debut in Italy's top league on 12 September 2004, 37 graduated from 38 games this season.
For the season 2005/ 06 Giorgio Chiellini returned from Fiorentina to Juventus back and won after a difficult start to the season for him under coach Fabio Capello a regular place. After Juve's relegation to Serie B for the 2006/07 season due to the manipulation scandal, Chiellini had under new coach Didier Deschamps a regular place in the defense and safely managed with the team direct resurgence. In summer 2007, Giorgio Chiellini vehemently demanded a more important role in the team structure and stood in the episode just before a change to Sven -Goran Eriksson's Manchester City, but did not materialize eventually.
In the 2007 /08 season Chiellini moved in for the injured Jorge Andrade from the left -back position in central defense. There he played very well and became an important performers of the team that won third place in Serie A under Claudio Ranieri. After his strong performance at the European Championships in 2008 his contract with Juve has been extended until 2013.
In the National Team
Giorgio Chiellini went through from the U-15 youth teams and all completed 67 junior internationals. His biggest success in that time, he was able to celebrate at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, when he won the bronze medal under coach Claudio Gentile. Chiellini was long time captain of the Italian U -21 national team, with whom he also took part in the U-21 European Championship in the Netherlands.
On 17 November 2004 Giorgio Chiellini made his debut under Marcello Lippi 1-0 win over Finland in the senior team. On November 21, 2007, he scored in a 3-1 home win against the Faroe his first international goal for the Azzurri.
Due to his strong performances at Juventus Chiellini was called by coach Roberto Donadoni in the squad for the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland. On 2 June 2008 he fouled during EM preparation his team-mate Fabio Cannavaro so unhappy that this drew upon a double ligament tear on his left ankle and had to cancel his participation due to injury in the tournament. At the tournament Chiellini completed three games and showed, especially in the quarter-final against Spain, which was lost with 2:4 after penalty shootout, strong performances. He now belongs to the permanent staff in the national team and is already considered as a future successor of Cannavaro as a defender of the Azzurri. At the European Championship 2012, he was employed in 5 games. Only in the quarter-final match against England, he missed due to injury due to a muscle tear.
