Work

Ghedinis music was initially under the influence of Ravel and his Italian contemporaries Pizzetti. An intensive study of the music of the 17th and early 18th centuries (especially Monteverdi, Gabrieli, Frescobaldi and Vivaldi ) then suggested increasingly in his own works down, in which he sought to establish a connection between music of the past and present. This resulted in particular from the 1930s to an unclassifiable polyphonic, predominantly lyrical cantabile personal style that it uses quite harmonious middle of the 20th century.

Ghedinis works includes in addition to operas and incidental music, a symphony, orchestral works and solo concerts in various ( often smaller ) Instrumentation, chamber music, songs and Sacred Works.

The dedicated to the Albatros " Concerto dell'Albatro " (1945 ) is considered one of Ghedinis outstanding works. In the compound linear, austere -looking musical lines with reciting passages from Herman Melville's " Moby Dick " the instrumental parts evoke the impression of the Arctic Ocean, and by delicate dialogues of orchestral piano and strings and wind instruments selectively used a foreboding atmosphere.
